I'm in Paris!
Another debacle made me almost miss my train. It was scheduled for 5:30 this morning. I was out the door at 5:25. No taxi. I checked the app to see.wherr he was only to see that he had picked me up and we were 10 minutes from the train station. He scammed me but I got in touch with the company and they immediately redeposited my $25! Luckily there was a taxi driving by and I hailed it.
THEN, when I came out of the Paris train station to find a taxi, another scammer approached .e.for a ride. These guys hang out at airports and train station and offer to take you right away...no line. I told him to get lost because I'm aware of.this scam. They charge you like double the rate but you don't know that until you reach your destination. That almost happened to me the first time I flew to Paris. It was tempting to go with him but all my radar was up. I learned later that it is a thing.
But, I'm here. So nice to see familiar landmarks, boulangeries, patisseries! The Airbnb is wonderful! It's 40 stairs up. I had counted on weighing a lot less and being in shape. Well, we know how that turned out... Fortunately, the host carried my bags up.
The place is awesome. Wonderful view out the windows, timbered ceilings, great bathroom and comfy bed. Kitchen is well-equipped.
I've done 2 loads of laundry and went to the grocery store. Stopped and got dinner on the way back. I have stayed in this area most of my visits but, I'm so directionly challenged, I still have to use Google maps! Paris now let's you take a doggy bag so I have dinner for tomorrow.
Here's some pics from the day. The mountains are.from the trai heading to Paris from Milan.
Travel is so much harder for me now
.the weight, my elbows, being so out of shape. I'm eating the end of my traveling. I hope to retire in 2 years. I won't have the money to do this anymore. I have seen more places than I ever could have imagined. Lucky and blessed but the old mare aint what she used to be (hello mom!)..LOL
