Saw the audiologist yesterday. Very discouraging on 2 fronts. One, despite what my Aetna told me, they can only bill Aetna for the testing. I have to go somewhere else to get the hearing aids for Aetna to cover them. Second, hearing loss in my right ear, especially in the higher tones, tested as 'profound' hearing loss. Word recognition was 50% in my right ear and 60% in my left. (Word recognition...I sit in a soundproof booth with an apparatus on my head. A voice says a word and I have to repeat it back. So, where's the grat? I have insurance. I really liked this audiologist. She checked on the warranty time left on my current aids. I have a year left. She said she can make them more efficient by putting new wires on them and raising their efficiency. There would be a little out of pocket (a couple hundred) but it would beat getting new aids now. I have to go back in late May to get that done. We ran out of time.
Finally got a little rain. Looks so pretty outside.
Delta's great news!
