Got to see my brother, his daughter, and two of my favorite cousins while I was up there. Went back to the church that I grew up attending on Sunday. The only people that I still know there are family and the people that sat in front of me used to live down the street and used to babysit my brother before he started school, but it was nice to be back there.
My husband found rib-eye steaks on sale and grilled them Saturday night. I made the sides. Those were some of the best steaks that I have eaten in a long while (sorry, Paula). Mama could even chew them with her dentures, and she is getting to where she can hardly chew most beef and pork with her teeth. He also found lobster tails on sale and made us a seafood boil on Sunday. I think it was even better than the steak.
Someone we trust to stay in the house and cat sit when we are out of town. It is so much less nerve-racking.
My oldest grandson called to say that he had been offered another job close to here that he wouldn't mind working. Then he got confirmation that he got the job that has been testing and talking to him for over a month. He passed all the tests except the drug test and background check that he has to take this week. He is not worried about those because the company he works for did an intensive background check (government), and he has random drug tests all the time. Both jobs offer him more money and fewer hours than he is working now, and will allow them to be closer to both families. It also means that his wife can take the job she has been offered, where a free brand-new apartment comes with it. They are pretty much done being moved from pillar to post without notice. I am happy that they landed on their feet.
