never been to driftwood beach. It sounds delightful, though. I love the Atlantic side, but I am a big fan of the Gulf's crystal clear waters, at least what they used to be. My oldest grandson has always loved the Gulf area, too. He and his wife were transferred to Mobile and were tickled to move there. Their plan was to spend days off on the beaches. The trouble is that they became discouraged with the beaches soon after moving there. He said they had to keep going further and further away to get away from seaweed, sharks close to the beaches, algae, jellyfish swarms, biting/stinging things of all kinds, and other invasions that took away from the pleasure he had always associated with the area. The luster wore off soon when he could live there, but I think I would love it to just look out over the bay or the Gulf every day, all day, from a big window. It is so soothing to me and the salt air clears out our sinuses We love St Augustine. We also liked Amelia Island a lot, but I think we only took a day trip there on the way home from St. Augustine once and don't know if it would be enough for a whole vacation, though there was a lot to do there that we didn't get to do. I don't know if it would have been enough for days and days or not.
