Monday Gratitudes Posted by Delta on 4/7/2025, 6:51 pm, in reply to "Monday gratitudes…." Being able to sit in the sunshine for the first time in nearly a week. It is a bit nippy but it still feels great! Poppy is loving getting out in the sunshine, too. The flash flooding is receding here so some of the roads are opening again. Some roads have been undermined by the water and are still closed for fear of collapse. My heart goes out to those that have river flooding in their area. Some towns shut down and evacuated everyone, especially in Kentucky. Unfortunately, since all those rivers flow into the Mississippi, it may all be coming our way and to Cindyh. Trying to make a plan, decide what is most important to save, and get together things to take in case we get evacuated. Clematis blooming everywhere. I have two different new vines on opposite ends of the yard from where the originals were planted. Since I lost one of them, my favorite, a couple of years ago I was so glad to see the new one bloom this year. Everything hurts. My gratitude is that this too shall pass as the cold front gets out of here and everything gets more stable again. Allergy meds. Even with all the rains and flooding the pollen count here is still off the charts but now mold is also a threat.

It’s very high but they have not had to close the floodgates and I don’t think they will. We have a freeze warning tonight! Is that not absolutely crazy! Had frost this morning but it’s supposed to possibly be in the high 20s tonight!!!!

I wasn't up early to see if it frosted or not and at this point not bothered with checking. I am sure it did. I got a message on my phone this morning that "The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Thursday morning to a crest of 37.5 feet Monday, April 14. It will then fall below flood stage Wednesday, April 23. Action stage is 28.0 fee. Flood stage is 34.0 feet." http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood The grain terminal and businesses about 5-6 miles south of me are already under water. It is just a wait and see thing now. I just saw a documentary on PBS on Sunday where in the flood of 1927 it was so bad everywhere that each side of the river had guards/watchmen every few feet on top of the levees because they were each afraid that the other side was going to send someone to dynamite the levee so that the water would all flow onto the other side and save their side. No levees were damaged but over 1000 people still lost their lives.

My five… Posted by Cindy on 4/7/2025, 9:38 am, in reply to "Monday gratitudes…." 1. Got up a little earlier that allowed me to take a nice LONG shower! It felt so good! 2. Ken’s back is feeling a little bit better. He has been having some lower back pain. I still think (as does Ken) that he got out of alignment when he fell. Going to call our chiropractor to see if I can get him in. 3. Mondays! Mondays always get a bad rap-but I always say you can’t get to Fridays without going through Monday! Let’s go! 4. I had a dream and my sweet brother Mike was in it and I got the BIGGEST HUG! Loved seeing him. He passed from ALS a few months after my mom passed. It was so weird because he was younger and in his uniform that he wore in this picture my mom and dad always displayed. I cried when I saw him. Such a wonderful feeling to wake up too! 5. This day and all it has to offer me. God is good! Love you ladies!

I do t think one could do much for me having had back surgery and such a bad back Wasn’t it you who told me about the show 1883? I have been watching it. I finished the last 2 tonight and went through so many tissues! That was the best show. I hope 1923 is half as good
