Not a great day Posted by Krista on 4/7/2025, 2:47 pm Dad had a rough day with confusion / agitation. They don't think it was a stroke but ran a cat scan this morning. He wasn't awake til about noon but was talking to us before I came to work. They can't find any veins for IV so they are putting in a PICC line today. He is moving to a private room which he says is the final step before dying. It's a rollercoaster. His CO2 numbers have increased but not as bad as before ICU visit. They said they may not take him in ICU again but if it is an option, we do want it. Your prayers are appreciated.

I get it Posted by Delta on 4/8/2025, 3:59 pm, in reply to "Thanks ladies" I went through pretty much the same thing with my mother in 2023. It is so exhausting in so many ways. They would tell us that we were going to have to select a hospice to send her within a couple of days or they would choose one for us to her sitting up talking and getting up to walk down the hall when PT came though she hadn't so much as sat up and only talked gibberish for days to her being almost comatose for a few days to sitting up asking for ice cream and acting as if nothing had happened since she took her last walk down the hall. The cycle kept up for weeks. Just as they gave up on her and again want to send her to hospice she would make a recovery, when they were getting ready to send her to a rehab facility she would go down hill again and need hospital care. Then all the sudden she sprung back and she is doing better than me most days. I hope that your dad springs back the same way and I hope that it is soon for you.

It is so hard when our parents are sick and hospitalized and we feel powerless to help them. Prayers continue for your dad, you, and the rest of the family. Don't lose hope and try to encourage it in him. It really can make a difference.
