We worked in the yard today and my body is So Sore. I hope I can sleep tonight. We trimmed the 3 crepe Myrtle’s. Took all the dead flowers off the hydrangeas. Planted 2 trees and a yellow forsythia! So I was bent over a lot and I feel it all. Back to butt cheeks to legs to calves all hurt. Apparently I don’t use those muscles nearly enough Our neighbor used to have a pecan tree and we had a baby sprouting in a flower bed so John stuck it in the ground about 5 years ago. It’s making the prettiest tree. I’m sure glad he did it. It’s in our back yard. Thankful for all of you

I love pecan trees Posted by Delta on 4/14/2025, 3:17 am, in reply to "Mine" There was a house near us that I always loved because it had a couple of acres with pecan trees on it. The house came up for sale a few years ago and I wanted to buy it but the price was too steep for me. The person that bought it had the pecan trees cut down and several huge houses build on it. It hurts my heart every time we pass by it these days. I hope that you are not too sore after your yard work.

We lost a maple this spring to disease but it was very old. I was so sad. We replaced it. Mainly because of the beautiful gold and reds. We also planted a tulip poplar. They are such beautiful trees too. And the forsythia. I just love color. We have a pink purple and red diamond crepe Myrtle and the Jane magnolia and my beautiful hydrangeas. Going to plant some butterfly flowers this year. Need to do that. Oh I also have several pots of sedum.

What is the secret Posted by Delta on 4/14/2025, 3:20 pm, in reply to "Oh how sad" to getting hydrangeas to bloom? Several people around my town have them so I know they will bloom in the area but I can never get blooms after the first year. I get huge bushes but nary a bloom. I have tried all the usual stuff but still no luck. They are one of my favorite but still no luck. I meant to plant some butterfly bushes this year too. I need to get on that. I am so glad that you reminded me.

Oh one thing maybe Posted by Cindyh on 4/14/2025, 5:25 pm, in reply to "What is the secret " Are you pruning the woody stems? A lot of varieties only bloom on “old wood” as it is called so if you prune it down it won’t bloom. The newer variety I mentioned above is not that way

That thing was full when he brought it to me and never dropped flowers and was full through until late, late fall, almost winter. We got a late freeze for several days after it started greening and it froze back. Never bloomed again. I have some Endless Summer and some that were nameless when I got them. They all bloomed outstandingly well the first summer. None have ever bloomed again although they sometimes get waist high although tey all die back to the ground every year.

I never cut them until all the greenery is back and I only cut the stems that don't green up again. The one my son brought me was over chest high when he transplanted them and they never died back. They just got too big for the area that they were in. The ones he transplanted bloomed the rest of the year but only had a few blooms for the next two years then never bloomed again. After a week of below-freezing temps, all but one never came back. It still hasn't bloomed.

I always use my mother-in-laws recipe because that is the one that my husband loves and I like it too. It is pretty much the same as one I got at a WW meeting only their was cooked in the oven. I love new towels.

This is my favorite time of the week. 3. Ken is upstairs in the shower. Not that long ago he wasn’t even able to get upstairs let alone get in the shower! So grateful for all the improvements he has made! 4. Streaming tv services! Who knew I would ever be able to cut the cord on cable and stream tv shows! I’ve even taught Ken to do it! Who knew?? 5. This day and all it has to offer me. God is good. Love you sweet ladies!

What really caught my attention was that you said that Ken is upstairs in the shower and my heart just sung because you seemed to feel comfortable being downstairs on here with us. It makes my heart sing. I am sure that with more work he will be getting around with a cane and then none. It just takes time and effort. He is putting in both.

The closest meeting is in Wichita which is about an hour away, and I don’t want to have to drive there on Saturday mornings. I used to go to a weight loss connections meeting which was a spin off of our WW meeting, also on Saturday mornings, but once Ken started getting sick I quit going. At least that was part of the reason. The lady who ran the meeting was the WW leader that I worked with and I love her but she just started to rub me the wrong way and was favoring some members over others and I just didn’t like it. So Ken’s illness was my reason not to attend meetings. Now I just like to sleep in on Saturdays. I can attend WW meetings online-there are thousands of them, but I just haven’t gotten serious about it. Thank you for asking. I need to do something!
