Saturday Gratitudes Posted by Delta on 4/19/2025, 1:25 pm, in reply to "Saturday Gratitude..." We made the trip to and from the lake safely. The insurance adjuster has been out, and the roof has been repaired. They did a very thorough job, and since the shingles are only a year old, they matched them exactly. It looks like it never happened. So lucky to find these guys that were so good and so quick. The floors have new waterproof LVT on them. It looks as if we are not going to have a problem with them. So far, there is no buckling of the sub-floors or peeling. We did lose the TV, the TV stand/fireplace/heater, and a brand new end table that we had just bought less than a week before the storm. The insurance paid for all of that. Luckily, the sofa and loveseat didn't get wet. We are happy with what they paid for all of those things. However, the ceiling is in decorative acoustic tiles, and they only paid for the ones that got wet and fell or were damaged. Of course, as luck would have it, they are discontinued, and we can't match them. The adjuster had turned in for the whole room to be re-tiled for that reason, but insurance said no. We plan to move a wall in there later, maybe sooner now, so it will have to all be redone anyway, so I am not very mad about it. We met a man up there who has had his house completely updated. He has helped us hire many workers from out of town. Neighbors are still waiting for the locals to do things from last year. So grateful to have met this guy. The teenager who mows for us at the lake. He has been saving for a truck when he turns 16. He did it last year and is doing it again this year. He does a better job than many professional companies we have tried to use here in the past. I came home to all my red roses blooming for all they're worth. They are so pretty! The other colors have not come in yet. My clematis that don't usually bloom this long are still in bloom. It is beautiful out my window beside my computer.

Pretty flowers Decided to go with the second heat pump offer as long as everything is put in writing Decided to have the surgery unless the neurosurgeon has something else in mind. Hope he gets back to me soon. Right now Dr Van is booking 6- 8 weeks out (still lucky. Krista would have to wait 8-10 years! Crazy!) Visited the Aspect office yesterday. It's beautiful. Even tho I'll only work from the office one day a week, I'll be office sharing in a gorgeous office with a whole wall of windows. I'm a little nervous because I've essentially been housebound for months. I hate how I look! Going to see Bonnie Rait Tuesday. Have had tickets forever. Normally I only go to things when I can sit on the aisle because of my size. By the time Deb and I decided to go, tickets were almost gone. We couldn't even get seats together. This all says how much I want to see her. One, risking a crowd and standing an uncertain amount of time, sitting squashed between people ( and probably getting dirty looks because I take up so much room) and not sitting with my friend. I hope I can do it all. I don't want to live this way anymore- afraid to go out because of my back and my size. Sean (Bill's son) asked if we could talk today because he has concerns about Bill now that he's spent time with him. Neither of us feel great having these side conversations but it helps me to know that he will participate in his dad's health care at some point.

You will have to take pictures for us! I’m also glad Sean wants to discuss Bill’s health. I know you will be there for him, but I’m glad Sean is going to be active in his dad’s care. I hope you can get some relief for your back soon. Paris awaits you!!

I hear you on all the planning and trouble we go to to accommodate our size. I am tired of it, too. It is good that you have made up your mind about the back surgery and that they are getting you in relatively quickly. I have found that unless it is emergency surgery that 6-8 weeks here is pretty much the norm. We often need that much time anyway to get the tests and the all clear from all of our other doctors. I hope you get the very best of results and are back on your feet going strong very soon. Here's to Paris pain free.

Five for me... Posted by Joan on 4/19/2025, 7:15 am, in reply to "Saturday Gratitude..." 1. I made it through cooking/eating out with company without breaking my food plan. Of course, having Treat Day while company was here was a BIG help. Still, I count this as a victory! 2. Cindy's son is getting married! 3. I like being able to order my vitamin supplements on Amazon. I put what I need in the cart and wait for the price to lower. 4. Love finding surprise BOGOs at Publix! 5. FSF family and friends! I pray for all of you, your families, your friends in my daily prayers... and thank you for praying for me! Maintenance is a forever endeavor!

That is the mark of a good food plan and lots of willpower. I do the same thing at Amazon. I love finding the BOGOs at our Kroger. We don't have a Publix but I do love them. I especially like that nothing is out of my reach at the ones I have been in.
