Thursday Grats Posted by Delta on 5/29/2025, 6:57 pm, in reply to "Thursday Grats?" The sun came out for a short time yesterday afternoon. We had such a beautiful sunset. We had more storms this morning but we have a watery sun out right now. Getting rid of things. It feels good. I have been throwing away and giving away a lot of stuff and we have been going through what furniture we want to get rid of to downsize. We are thinking of having an estate sale. My husband got me a new rose bush. It is too wet to plant right now so it is sitting right outside the window where my desk is. I got a portable quilting "sled" to put my machine on to make it easier to quilt and not be so painful. I don't have the space, even in this house, nor do I quilt enough to even try to afford a quilting machine, they are 10s of thousands of dollars. This will get the job done then fold and can slide under a couch when not in use.

It is getting to the point that holding a quilt to quilt it hurts my hands, arms and back. With this I can steer the machine where I want it instead of moving the quilt. I will still probably get the larger quilts quillted by someone else but now I can't justify sending the small ones out.

Cinq Choses Pour Moi Posted by Krista on 5/29/2025, 10:29 am, in reply to "Thursday Grats?" 1) my Dad will have a surgery date for cancer removal in about 6 weeks 2) allergy clinic appointment next Thursday - please, God, let them find something easily fixable 3) sunshine and warm temperatures 4) heading out onto my deck to read while lounging in my day bed and most likely will have a dip in the pool (pictures are on my to do list Paula!) 5) one of our two annual parties is this weekend. Still not much in a party mood but it's always nice to see friends enjoying time spent here.

In the back of my mind, I would remember we were going for her birthday but lost track. Found the tickets yesterday....June 5th, the day of surgery! Had I remembered sooner, I would have chosen a different day but I'm too psyched to change it now. My gardens are so pretty with no input from me. I feel like they are showing themselves especially beautiful this year to cheer me up. 4 little notes to write. This was my last week at Telemynd until after the surgery. The ladies do such a good job cleaning my house. OMG! What if my back.gets so good that I can clean my own house?? I hate cleaning my house. Always have!

Is your surgery day surgery or will they keep you at least one night? Your gardens remind me of mine the two years I had surgery back to back. They had no one to do anything to them, and they were just beautiful. I sat out there most of the day. Every other year, they have been so much work and not as beautiful.

They said I'll be out of bed the next day, have PT. Bill will need to be there to learn how to change the dressing, what to look for and how to help me move. He hates seeing and touching icky things. I want THEM to show him everything because, if it's coming from me, he'll get angry and/or think I'm exaggerating.

Use your phone and video how they change your dressing so Bill will have it right in front of him to look at when he is doing it for the first few times. Believe me you will be glad you did. I don’t understand the paragraph about Some like it hot tickets. Is that an opera? Clearly you can’t go to that performance but can you change to a later date?

OR take someone else with you guys that will film it. I had to hang an antibiotic bag from my brothers pic line several years ago and I taped it when they showed me how to do it and it came in really handy. When I went over to his house to hook it up the first time I had completely forgotten the steps to do it. Having the video helped so much.

Changing my ostomy bag seemed so simple when the wound nurse was showing me how but a week later at home it was so overwhelming. So many products, what goes where and when. A video would have made it so much easier.

I think it gives people time to get over the anesthesia and start healing before being home where bathrooms as well as everything else is usually further away and takes more effort. They also keep an eye out for blood clots after surgery.
