Update on my Grandson Posted by Delta on 6/19/2025, 4:56 pm The youngest one who broke his fingers and dislocated one, as well as breaking it. Although they did a good job of getting everything back in place and trying to stabilize it, the dislocated one was trying to twist a bit. His ortho felt that it would give him problems in the future if it set like that or kept twisting as it healed, and always be prone to dislocation again. It is his right hand so they want him to have as much movement as possible so they put screws into it today. After explaining that and putting pins which would stick out of his skin and have to be turned at times as they originally discussed I am glad they went with the screws. He is sitting up in recovery and says he feels fine with no nausea and, of course, no pain yet because of the meds. He should be going home within the hour. They think that after the incisions heal in a week or two that he will be able to resume some of his activities and not have to deal with a cast all summer. They still don't know if he can resume the school swim team.

I have screws in my right index finger from them removing arthritis in the joints (not the same I know) but never any problems. I do have screws in my left tibia and fibula from a bad break in 1990! Never any trouble there either! I’m a walking disaster if I list it all at once lol. He will do fine. Glad he had good docs and won’t keep having trouble with it
