I reached out to Carin… Posted by Cindy on 6/28/2025, 12:30 pm And first off, she is so sweet! She told me that they think it is definitely the medicine that is making Paula feel the way she is feeling and talking funny, (slurred words) and having trouble even finding the words to say. They are trying to find the right mix that will help with the pain and let her be able to be more coherent. They don’t plan on dismissing her until Monday or maybe even Wednesday. she is looking into getting some home health to come out to help with things throughout the day as she can’t rely on Bill. Carin has made that very clear to the drs. Carin is on top of Paula’s care which makes me feel better. I have Paula’s address and will send it out to you guys so we can flood her mailbox with cards and letters waiting for her for when she gets home. She is pretty depressed about everything but Carin said the dr thinks the surgery helped a lot as she did have 4 days with little pain before the infection set in. They just have to get the infection under control and get her strength built back up. Carin is trying to figure out when she can go stay with her a few days.

I am glad that you were able to talk Posted by Delta on 6/28/2025, 4:43 pm, in reply to "I reached out to Carin…" to her and find that her doctors seem to be more hopeful than Paula sounds. I know from experience that a bad infection takes you down, and between the infection, the pain it causes, and the antibiotics and pain meds that it is hard to be positive. I had to think positive thoughts intentionally. Since she is going to be on long-term antibiotics, I hope that cards will help keep her spirit up.
