Cinq Choses Pour Moi Posted by Krista on 7/18/2025, 5:24 pm, in reply to "Gratefuls for Friday" 1) allergy doc called today - she's most of my grats) Adding another med for my blood pressure and a drug to help with itching 2) she told me when I said Ray is seeing another derm but we think it is similar for me to hijack Ray's appt and go with next week. She knows all the docs and said it would be best for us to be seen together 3) she said my blood tests looked great - little high on iron but all other numbers looked great 4) the new drug for itching she said will work within 2 weeks - it's an anti-pyschotic with an added benefit to get rid of itch. She's scheduling a follow up for 3 weeks out 5) she asked if I had any q's and I asked if she could take me as a FAMILY DOC instead of an allergist. She laughed - just an amazing doc and she's had the sleeve so she knows the deal on weight and how it can impact a person

Since a tick bit my husband, I have been reading up on it. In the US, it is usually caused by the Lone Star tick, but in other countries, it seems that it can also be caused by different types of ticks. The allergy can start up to months after being bitten (the ticks can be so small that some people never know they have been bitten). Most people become allergic to red meats, but some have reactions to dairy products, gelatins, and even some medicines and other animal products. What makes it tricky is that reactions wait hours after a meal to start, unlike other food allergies. I was reading the first case one doctor saw was a middle-aged woman who presented suddenly with hives and itching he didn't believe that someone would develop allergies that bad in mid-life until they understood more about Alpha-Gal. When I read that the hair stood up all over my body. If you don't know if the two of you have been tested already, ask the dermatologist next visit. I don't know if you have Lone Star ticks there but after learning that other countries have other ticks that are now causing it, and that only southern states used to have it but now the island of Martha's Vineyard has them and the allergies and other places that has not had the allergies suddenly have people show up with them. Even if it is not common there, someone has to be the first case if it shows up.

Very dangerous bite that causes this! Good info for Krista!

The blisters made me sit up and pay attention because they seem to come out of nowhere for no reason until tests find out that is what it is. The good news is that one of the guys that has it is able to eat steak about once or twice a month without a reaction, so far. He keeps pushing it to see how much he can get away with and it is growing. The other father and daughter have recently been diagnosed and haven't been able to go there yet. For all of them it is mostly like having a very bad stomach virus and itchy skin but no hives or blisters.

She loved it... especially Pinkenello!. It had been a long time since doing it. I gathered my dusty things and practiced them & was happy to say it all came back. I've often forgetting stuff. So I feel so good about it. Another mild weather day. Getting appointments arranged around upcoming trip to my sister's in early August. Too many health concerns... but, moving forward. You wonderful ladies!!!
