Mine Posted by Paula on 7/20/2025, 11:03 am Carin and the kids being here. It was loud and chaotic but I guess that's the way it is with adolescent boys. Each of them did so many things for me, fixing things, setting up a new TV, I've had in a box for at least a year. So many nagging things. Carin made a huge casserole of Mac and cheese and cut it in pieces to put in the freezer.She also made some eggs bites and a blueberry crumble. The girl has the energy of 4 of me. They looked out for me and I had 3 days of not worrying about I was going to manage. They just left. I think I'm done with the antibiotics. No more of the big balls (like a room refresher that you plug into the wall) were delivered. I called the company and they the order from the doctor said to stop. I'm going to follow up to be sure. Carin washed and dried my hair before they left. First tom in 5-6 weeks! Less gook is coming in my wound vac. I still have way more pain than I should have and I'm so tired of lugging this wound vac around. Oh, we'll, as long as it's doing it's job, I won't complain (much)!

Do you know when the nurse is taking the wound vac out? How long should it be to be in less pain? Thinking of you often.

Thanks Posted by Paula on 7/21/2025, 2:11 pm, in reply to "So glad!" She said today that some new skin is growing around the wound and that it was bleeding a little which she sees as a good sign. Part of the dressing changes involves swapping out a piece of black sponge. The sponge collects the goo and the vac sucks it out. She told the nurse she was training today, that when there's no room for the sponge,the let the surgeon know. I don't know if he closes it up then or what.

I don't know if I'm even supposed to be off the antibiotics! Possible given the debacle this has been. Surgeon didn't say anything about follow-up. I'm so angry with him for not truly overseeing my care. I'll make calls about the antibiotics tomorrow.

I am glad that they got so much done for you and I know you loved getting your hair washed. I wish they lived closer so that you had more help all the time. I hope that not having refills for your wound vac means that it has been effective enough to stop using it and not another snafu. Having less gook sounds like you are getting there.
