Update on Murray. Posted by Beverly on 10/4/2025, 5:27 pm Yesterday they told us that Murray has small cell lung cancer. I was stunned... but, not stunned. Mike hugged Murray and they both cried hugging. I was sobbing. There's a lot more information to gather. They are waiting for results of the fungal infection. They have to also culture the liquid they took from his plural enfussion. And check out some other things. They are taking lots of blood and comparing it day to day. Murray told them he wants to do the chemo. We have to look at many things. Is he strong enough. This kind of cancer is fast growing and spreads easily. Damn it. ... (sorry) His body is struggling to keep up with the energy it takes to breath. He has lost 4.5 pounds in the last 5 days. Two of them were 'water weight' from the liquid they drained from the plural effusion. He is loosing weight very quickly. He feels some better today. Mike and I went to see him this morning.Then Meghan came later. Then his best friend, stopped by to see him. One of his friends had been in the emergency room... well, he stopped by Murray's room top. So, there were 5 people. We all left by noon. He was really tired after his visit, but happy. He will have an MRI today. He has to be willing to tell them that he still smokes 3 cigarettes a day and how that will impact the chemo. Determine if he is strong enough to do it. Can the chemo really improve the quality of his life. How we will be able to help him thru the chemo and transportation to and from chemo. I need transportation as have many appointments. A lot of things to think about. I love you all, thanks.

She had already become very weakened from it because they were treating her for heart failure instead of finding it (she did not have heart failure, just symptoms of it). They told her that she was too far gone to be treated when they found it. She told them she wanted treatment anyway. They argued, and she stood firm. She went through chemo and radiation, and it was not pretty, but when it was over, they told her the cancer had shrunk some. She kept getting PET scans every 3 months, and the first two, she just found that it had not grown, but had not shrunk anymore. Then suddenly they came in perplexed. The cancer was gone. Poof! They couldn't explain. She was cancer-free for over 7 years and passed away from something else. So there is hope.

She had the exact same cancer stage 4 when diagnosed so they did not offer her anything but palliative radiation. I am so very happy you have family around you for comfort and help.
