Grateful on Wednesday for Posted by Delta on 10/9/2025, 12:11 am, in reply to "Wednesday Grats?" My cousin being able to come visit me for a week again. Although I have been going to visit her, she had a habit of spending a week here two or three times a year. When her cancer came back all over her body one of her goals was to be able to resume her trips here. She did it. We took my cousin home on Saturday and spent a few days with my mother. We had a good visit and saw lots of family while we were there. One of my cousins has lost over 40 pounds over summer. I am so excited and happy for her! She was really struggling with health issues and feels better already. She had me come to her house, and she brought out a bunch of pretty outfits. Every time I see her I love what she is wearing so I was very excited. She loves to shop and has great taste. She shopped end of end-of-season sales and had bought a lot of things for winter last spring, but has lost almost 40 pounds since then, and nothing fits, so she had all these nice, new winter clothes that no longer fit. She was going to take them to a consignment store, but had me go through them before she took them and told me I could have them for the price marked on them for consignment. I found several winter blouses, three pairs of pants, a couple of sweaters, a leather blazer, and a puffer jacket. I gave her more than what she wanted because they were all brand new. I still got a great bargain and I have some really nice clothes for winter and since I hate shopping, it makes me happy. Our trip home was safe and uneventful. Thank you, Jesus! I will be so glad to sleep in my own bed tonight.

She still has struggles, but they never thought that she would even be alive two years later, let alone feeling like traveling. I am still on this side of the dirt. It is a struggle most days, but I am making the most of it.

It was a great visit, wish it could have been longer, but we had an appointment today that would have been hard to reschedule. I was very tickled about the clothes. Like I said, I hate to shop and always tend to get things home and find that they look just like the rest of my closet, dark and comfy home wear. She, on the other hand, loves to shop and buys stylish clothes. I am set for winter.

I always ask them To do things but they stick with themselves (sisters) and don’t include me. It really hurts me. We grew up together but honestly it’s always been this way. Had a separate shop on a park-like setting at the end of a road so no traffic. I thought it was perfect, but my husband's head started whirring. They were asking the same price per square foot as a new house, but it was an older house, and it needed a new roof, two new HVAC systems, new windows all around, and the deck needed some work on it. The price came in at almost $100,000, probably why they had decided to move. The listing was only two days old, with several people making offers so there is no way they will take less unless all of those offers fall through, because the bank won't lend that much because the appraisal didn't qualify it. We don't want to pay a new price and still have to spend that much on a house. We are scheduled to look at a new house. We'll see. On a strange note we had been interested in a house on the Gulf at one time but the same story, they wanted a new price on an even older house that needed a lot of work. They refused to come down at all. It has been on the market for over a year, and they have not received a single offer because the asking price is significantly higher than the appraisal value. The realtor called us that the price has been lowered to the appraised value so we have to decide if we still want to live on the Gulf, and since our grandson is living down there now, it looks very better. My mom was close with her three youngest sisters, who were each two years younger than the one above them. Daddy and one of his sisters were close (the other was a lot younger). We lived right beside Daddy's sister, thus my cousin who is like a sister to me. We lived within a mile of Mama's sisters. They all hung out together. Some of the cousins were older, some younger, but there were 7 of us the same age and up to 4 years older, and we grew up riding horses and bikes, wading creeks, climbing trees, exploring, jumping out of barn lofts, collecting soda bottles, and walking to the store pulling a wagon to sell them back and buy us new soda or candy. It was a fun childhood. Three of the cousins live near Mama today but we have lost two, and two of us are far away. Usually, when one of us wanderers comes back to visit, they have a get-together at a restaurant or one of the cousins' homes that are still there. It's nice to make that connection again, but the two of us who 'escaped', we don't fit in for long, and we probably wouldn't be close to the others if we lived there all the time. When we were children, even though we were often all together, we had our little cliques within the group. Since my sister passed away, her two children and her grandchildren have grown closer to me and always try to get by to see me or have a get-together too.

Cinq Choses Pour Moi Posted by Krista on 10/8/2025, 10:12 am, in reply to "Wednesday Grats?" 1) stairlift installed at Dad's yesterday. This is a big step towards increased freedom. They have been getting out but Paul won't have to drive to the back door on the grass now I'm so happy they did this! 2) onto soft foods (next phase already!) and only 2 weeks out from surgery. Stopped at grocery store last night to get watermelon, flavoured yogurt and raspberries 3) got to talk on the phone with one of my surgeons and the nutritionist yesterday. They are so helpful and supportive! 4) like Paula, I LOVE amazon and order so much from there. This week, it was Premier Protein chocolate shake mix and Vitamin B (which nutrionist said I need in addition to the multi they gave me 5) we usually have a party in the fall around this time but I'm glad we have decided not to this year. That way, when people see me in the spring, they will be SHOCKED BEYOND BELIEF. LOL It's all about me!

No they are not finished Posted by Krista on 10/9/2025, 8:46 am, in reply to "Krista" He sees his cardiologist on the 17th and after that, he will meet with the surgeon regarding the results of the polyps that were removed, the extent of the colorectal cancer and what possible next steps will be. We're still praying for the best possible outcome. The doc has told Dad he may have a colostomy bag for the rest of his life. Time will tell.

Dispite how it may feel Posted by Delta on 10/9/2025, 4:51 pm, in reply to "No they are not finished" in the first couple of weeks, a colostomy bag is not the worst thing in the world. Yes, it is better without it, and men seem not to adapt to new things as well as women, or want to care for it correctly, but it is something that is fairly easy to get used to. If he has to have one ask, and I will give you a list of things to make sure they have gone over with him, and products to make life easier. They did not do that with my mother when she got one, but my wound care nurse was great and very thorough, so it was a lot easier for me than when my mother had hers.

My azaleas are having their second bloom of the season. So pretty. Cool weather Ordered a purple 3/4 trench from Amazon Prime Days. My light blue one is worn out. My black one is full length and a pain to travel with.

I think it would cheer up a rainy day and your purple one will too. I love twice-blooming azaleas! Yours are so pretty. I used to have some like your corals and some like the baby pink ones. An extra hot, dry summer with city wide watering plants ban took all of mine out one year.

People come from so many states away every year. It’s a tradition. It’s so beautiful. My mom had an enormous coral azalea while I was growing up at the corner of our house taller than the adults. So pretty. When my mom and dad divorced she moved out. When he remarried she chopped it down. I was so sad. I keep thinking I should plant one. Countdown. Is on!
