For those who might want to help Posted by Delta on 11/6/2025, 6:32 pm feed people. These are not meant to be full-time meals but a stopgap for those who needs a quick to fix, shelf stable, shelf-stable meal that will fill their bellies for hours. I plan to make my mother a few low-sodium ones to keep on hand in case her meals don't get, during this time, especially the soup. She loves soup, but sometimes doesn't feel like all the chopping.

We also get lots of clothes and small household items that are donated that are free to the public. It really helps when they are homeless and need some warm socks, gloves, clothing or a coat. We also put together hygiene kits that have shampoo, conditioner, brush/comb, razors, toothpaste and tooth brush and deodorant.

Some of these won't help the homeless unless they have a pot and make a fire. I used to find real wool socks at Dollar Tree before fall began. I would buy them out to put in care bags for the homeless or the shelter in town that gave out bags to the homeless that wouldn't stay, just wanted dry socks, a few personal grooming things, and a meal. I no longer find men's wool socks there, so they cost me a lot more now. The local women's shelter requests that if we have purses that we no longer want to fill them with sanitary products, wet wipes, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, deodorant, hand lotion, brush or comb, and socks for them to give to the women who come in there.
