We still have a lot to go, but it seems more manageable with the things that have been done. The house is ours. We were able to get most of the things done by phone. At first, we were told that we had to drive to where the house is to close, get utilities switched into our names, put down deposits, etc. We didn't know why because we have closed on houses and businesses, both buying and selling, with nothing but phone, fax, and wire transfers for years. That was putting a major damper in things with the work on the house that is selling here because we were going to have to go to the old lake house that has already been winterized and stay, get up and winterize it again and get the towels, washcloths and sheets washed and drive about 45 minutes to the closing place that is over 2.5 hours from out house. My husband called to ask a question or give info, and when he left a message because no one answered the phone, the owner called back because the secretary was out. When the guy called back. When he was asked, he said sure and he set it up to do it all by phone, sent everything to utilities so that we could call them for the switch. All done. That in itself took so much off our plate time and stress-wise. Come to find out the secretary did not know this was possible or how to do it. Guess she didn't want to ask. Our oldest grandson is on his way here. They are moving today, or at least the first leg. They are visiting here, then going north an hour or so to see both their dads, probably stay with one of them tonight, then going on to their final destination about 4 hours away. He has to be back here to pick up all his equipment at the first of the week, so we will get to see him again. It will be good to see them. They were told that he was transferring on the first of December, so they were going to spend Thanksgiving with us, but now he will be the low man on the totem pole, so he will most likely be on call during Thanksgiving and won't be able to go out of town. Grandson's dad's best childhood and early adulthood best friend lives there, so they will at least have someone they know and can trust to be around if they need anyone. As a matter of fact, the man's mother babysat for my grandson at one time in his life, and she is around often, too. Much better than when they were 7 hours away from everyone they knew.

It is in a location where rentals are wanted year-round so we debated because we hate to give it up and just love the people next door and would like to still see them. However, we have already had three people call about buying it just because they heard we got another one. There is already a bidding war going on so we will most likely sell. We are getting to an age where things are a lot better in our heads than in reality and I am afraid that keeping it might be one of them. We could also use the money it will bring.
