1. A nice quiet birthday yesterday. Stayed home with Ken. Thank you all for your birthday wishes!
2. I went to the DMV only to find out an appointment made online is the best way to get right in. I took a number and sat down but decided after 10 minutes that it would be a long wait for #48! The gratitude is I had the sense to make an appointment online (even though it is over a week away) - and leave!
3. I ordered some Ryze mushroom coffee and LOVE IT! It has all but wiped out the pain I had from my SI joint. No kidding. I could hardly get up from my chair I was so stiff and achy and it was painful taking steps going down the side of my thigh. That is gone after 6 days of drinking 2 cups a day of this coffee. Grateful.
4. Time off from work. Love spending time with Ken.

My Monday Gratitudes

My house is clean enough, and I did the laundry on Friday. That means that today I can chill and try to recuperate. I overdid it for the strength and stamina that I had built back up.
The Ham Sliders that I made for the get-together were a hit. I was on the fence about them since they were similar to a recipe from my children's childhood that they loved that were not heated and also similar to a heated version that they hated. To me the two dishes were so similar that I never understood how one was so loved and the other so hated. I wanted some, so I made them. They disappeared in minutes, and everyone was raving about them. They will be making a return next year.
The get-together yesterday was very enjoyable, with everyone staying late. Even the teenagers were not chomping at the bit to get home to friends. It was nice.
The Dirty Santa exchange wasn't as much chaos and hilarity this year because everyone liked what they got and didn't want to swap, nor did they want to roll the funky dice we sometimes use to get things going. I guess that is nice, but not nearly as much laughter. One teen boy did get a girl's gift, but the next person, his sister-in-law, took it from him and told him to go again. She is new enough, and they live far enough that they aren't around all of us very often, so she was quiet and shy, but she had no problem grabbing that gift. Said it was something she had been wanting to try. We had a good laugh, and she seemed to come out of her shell a bit after that.
I finally finished the antibiotics, and it seems as if they worked this time. I have been on antibiotics, messing up my stomach, for over a month, except for about 3 days between rounds. Ready to be over them. Unfortunately, I traded them for anti-fungals because the antibiotics caused me to have a fungal infection under my breasts and stomach as well as the folds of my legs. Thankfully, none of that intensely itchy stuff and not in the usual areas.
area and the special friends that become family are very close and do a lot of things together. I guess it wore off on us. Our extended families often have get-togethers when someone comes in from out of town, or on holidays, but there always seems to be a sort of stand-offishness there. Almost like it is just a ritual that is expected instead of enjoying each other. I am glad that we embraced the style of this area.

1) reading Cindy's grats. I hope you are off for 2 weeks at Christmas! That would be amazing. Merry Christmas to you and Ken!
2) working today and tomorrow at radio then off for 5 days
3) got a bunch of my "pre-work" done for auction already so I can have it off from there also Dec 25 and 26
4) a country artist I really like just texted me their cell number. Made me feel like a someday (Andrew Hyatt is his name)
5) Ray helped me at Dad's today getting rid of an old desk, tv table and stereo stand so we could put in the shelves I got for his hockey cards for Christmas

I am so happy that you are close enough to spend time with your dad and help out when needed. I'll bet he will be so excited about his shelves.

I could try that Ryze coffee; the reviews sound so great. I am allergic to mold and have been told not to eat mushrooms, so you will have to drink it for me.
