Friday Gratefuls Posted by Delta on 4/3/2026, 6:17 pm, in reply to "Friday gratefuls?" That today is celebrated as the day that Jesus gave his life as a permanent offering for our sins. Listening to Ray Boltz's song " The Lamb " several times today, as well as reading scripture to remind me. My husband is struggling today (they said he might, but it is still a bit scary), so I didn't make the church service. When my son called to check on his dad yesterday, he said that he wanted to cook dinner on Sunday for a family gathering at our house if we are up to it. I had figured that we would not have one this year. It is nice that he stepped up and took over. Sod is being cut now. One of our grandsons picked up a few strips of sod today and laid it over the area that got dug up when the sewer had to be dug up around Christmas. Although he watered it, we are supposed to have rain tonight, tomorrow, and part of Sunday, so it should help get it established. We had such a beautiful yard, but it has been a wreck since Christmas. It looks better now than it has since. I think it will look nice again in a few weeks when all the yard greens up well and makes the new blend in seamlessly. A picture I found of my mom, dad, brother, sister and I that I have on the riser under my computer now. It was made on Easter Sunday when I was 13. Daddy didn't go to church much when I was a child but he had been going some and decided to be baptized that day. He also didn't like being in pictures so it was a very special day all around. I am glad that I found this picture. Dad and my younger sister are both gone now.

Most of the grands love working outside, so they pitch in doing that all the time. Our son LOVES cooking. It is his happy place and his stress reliever. He also has a good friend who is a chef, and he learned a lot from him, so he is a wonderful cook. I just wish someone liked housecleaning. LOL

It was wonderful to be back there - awesome service and so many hugs 2) my ring chipped (I know - so sad!) and they refunded my money and the warranty cost as well without issue. They would have repaired it but since it was only 2 weeks I thought it better to refund and wait to find another I like as much 3) Ray and I are off together today for Good Friday - it's nice 4) the comfort I get when the weather is NOT good on Good Friday. It wasn't on the day that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and when it isn't good weather in "modern day", it is a sign to me and many to remember this day 5) all my pics done for the auction loading on Sunday -- didn't have many this week and I'll be glad to have none again. I've been helping out a bit as they have many new hires

Mine Posted by Paula on 4/3/2026, 9:18 am, in reply to "Friday gratefuls?" The boys are going to meet with the dept.of corrections counselor that met with Carin and Thomas to discuss him moving out. Fortunately, they will meet with her together and C and T won't be there. As Krista would say, 6 more sleeps until I head to Rome. Think I've put my travel wardrobe together. Only uses a carry-on so have to be judicious. Layers because weather is all so unpredictable this time.of year. Actually, layers is always the answer. Azaleas beginning to bloom and peonies forming big, juicy buds. Will miss seeing them in full bloom over the next couple of weeks. I'm in a little better place with God than I have been in a long while. I realized I resonate with the man on the cross, his values, his mission of love and inclusiveness. How religion has bastardized that and used it to hate, judge, be exclusive is what I can't stand. Praying is still a mystery. Do we think we can really change God's mind? Or is prayer really only about helping us cope with life? I was taught by one pastor that prayer is really for us, for comfort, peace, inspiration. We won't know until we know!

I am glad that you are on better terms with God. I have never really thought that prayer changed God's big plans, but drew us closer to him and changed our minds to better understand and reflect His will. Even Jesus prayed in Luke 22:42 for God to take the cup of suffering he was about to endure from him, but knowing that God's plan had to be fulfilled, also prayed, yet not my will, but Yours be done. He wasn't looking forward to the suffering but knew that for God's plan to work, it was going to happen, and he also wanted God close to him as he went through it. Prayer keeps God close. Just my thoughts, and maybe not worth much to you.

It is the things that we ask for that often trip us up when God says no or wait because he has better plans seen from a perspective that we can't understand because we can't see the big picture.

We pray for many reasons, one being for us to have peace knowing God decides everything for reasons we will never understand. I love that you're in a better place with the big guy.
