The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"
We finally made it home safely. We had to do some errands, so we were going to get on interstate at the next entrance ramp from the one we usually use. It is long and has a big curve in it. Lots of trees to make it impossible to see to the end. Traffic came to a screeching halt. We sat for over an hour and a half until things eventually started flowing again. A truck rolled at the end of the ramp several vehicles ahead of us. We were already on it, with trucks behind us so that we couldn't get off. When we could move, we saw that a truck had evidently taken the curve too fast and rolled at the end of the ramp. Two wreckers had it right side up, but it had damage as if it had rolled. The driver must have been okay. Two fire trucks came by, lots and lots of all kinds of police cars came by, wreckers came by, but no ambulance or coroner.
The bedrooms are almost finished. The painter still has a little painting to do on the trim, and the flooring will be there in a week or two. It feels good to get one whole end out of the way. The kitchen has always been a major project, and the living room has a vaulted ceiling, so we knew they would take a little bit longer. The bedrooms mainly just needed to be freshened up.
The sea wall has been rebuilt, and new fill and topsoil have been installed where it had washed out. This is where a neighbor's car put itself into gear while running and missed every tree in the yard to take a deep dive off our wall. That didn't hurt the wall at all, but when the wrecker pulled it out, it tore it up. The previous owners got paid by insurance, but of course, they didn't fix it.
So far, we are still on budget. We made an offer lower than they were asking because we had figured out what it would cost to do everything to it. We didn't want to go over the value when finished. So far, we are good.
We have a painter who can do the living room, kitchen, and bathrooms. He has already painted some for us, and he is really good and fast. That is so hard to find around here. It is finally coming together. We may be able to relax when we go there in about a month.
I am so glad that we had that rental to sell so we could do this!
Where is this place located? Seawall?? Are you not near Memphis at all now?
Well, I just didn't know what

else to call it. No, it is not near Memphis, but it is still a lake formed by the backwaters of a river, and it washes badly without a retaining wall. There was a gap of about 10 feet in the wall, and it had already washed out over 2 dump trucks of dirt. We had to stop that, or soon we would have had no yard.
All the neighbors said the car did no damage going in, and it was found by a fisherman days after it happened. The man had filed a stolen car report. When the wrecker pulled it out is when the wall damage was done. We have seen pictures. It was a Jeep and absolutely full of fish when it came out. The fishing is good around our pier. You will have to come down and fish with us.
