My mother was staying with us and was being all dramatic about something, as she does, got out of the truck, and said that she wasn't going until the next day. I got out to try to smooth things over. When I couldn't, he got in the truck and left anyway. He was gone a week and didn't even know it was our anniversary until our son and daughter-in-law got there a couple of days later to celebrate with us. That was almost our last anniversary.

Just lounging around watching softball and baseball playoffs. One of the grandsons came and brought his girlfriend. They are taking us to dinner later. After 51 years, it is pretty much just another day. He has never been the romantic type. The one time he sent me roses, they got delivered to the wrong address on a Friday afternoon just before closing, so he couldn't even correct it until Monday, and a neighbor half a mile down the street almost got a divorce when his wife got a bouquet from a strange man. The card read: All my love for all the years, Phillip. They had a real mystery on their hands since we were new and they hadn't met us yet.
