The easiest way to avoid regrets is to ask yourself this question, "If not now, when?" It's a powerful way to put life and our decisions about how we spend our time into perspective"
Glad I had another vacation with the kids. We left this AM. A full day early. We made up our minds yesterday and was going to leave then but had a family dinner planned at Bubba Gumps which is a tradition the kids love. Every day my back kept getting worse and worse and I was having a very hard time sleeping. Just very hard to do.
Grateful for all I have. I’m not rich in money or things but I have more than I need
Grateful to see my dogs tomorrow!! I miss them!! I know they miss us!!
All of you
Made it home at midnight

Started at 9:30 am. A 10.5 hour drive took 14.5. Road work. Stops so I can stretch my back. McDonald’s egg McMuffins for breakfast. Made turkey sandwiches for lunch. Stopped at chic fil a grilled chicken supper. Spent an hour stretching good after we ate and got an iced coffee from Panera next door. Then for some reason the route took us through downtown Memphis at night in the dark. I was slightly on edge. Not a great place.
Anyway. In my bed. Waiting for a pain pill to help.
I am so glad that you made it home safely and can rest after all that.
GPSs can be wonky at times. We took a trip back from Gulf Shores, which took several hours longer than usual because of all the road work, accidents, and other things we encountered.
Though we know the way we like to turn on the GPS because it tells us where most wrecks and slowdowns are, so we can, hopefully, avoid them. Once, it kept trying to re-route us on what would have made the trip more than two hours longer, plus the travel time to get from where we were to where it wanted us to be to go that way. I have no idea why it thought we needed to go through all of Mississippi to take an inferior road to what we were on or why it didn't just get over it when we picked our route. We didn't encounter any slowdowns the whole trip.
Glad you made it through Memphis at night unscathed. You know, some people do that regularly. I can only imagine one route that would take you through a bad neighborhood, and it would take some work to get to that route from Fl, though fluke things can happen anywhere, I guess.
Glad that you had fun and hope that your back recovers quickly.
This collection of wonderful ladies who listen to us when we need a sounding board or help. Such treasures, every one of you!
The temperatures have dropped today. Around midnight, when I took Poppy out, it was miserable. I asked Alexa, and it was 90F with a feel-like temperature of 98F. We had a little storm come through, and just 24 hours later, it is 74F with a breeze and feels like 74F and falling. As I type this it has already fallen another degree.
How good the cousins are to my mother. She is the last of her generation. All of them have lost both parents now. The ones that live near drop by often, take her out to lunch, take her to appointments or shopping. The ones that don't live there call and text her all the time, and they still come through regularly, just like they have all their lives, and stop by to see her. She has a more active life than I do. They all say that she is the last touch with their parents, but they are also her touchstone with her brothers and sisters. I am just glad that she has that many children these days. Even though we generally talk and text daily, it makes me feel better to know that others are checking in throughout the day, also, and some of them actually see her weekly and let me know if things seem out of the ordinary, because she is always saying she is fine. I can usually tell just by talking to her when she is not fine, but having backup helps a lot. Now that she is not driving, I am glad that they make it a point to get her out of the house several times a week. It can be good to have a large family.
Floor coverings are being taken up today at the new house. New ones are supposed to be put down next week. The dear neighbor who has become such a great friend already has a key, and let them in. It doesn't bother me that people are coming and going there when we are not there because the only things in the house are some beds that don't even have headboards, couches, pots and pans, plates, and things. Very minimal. Furniture is hard to steal and hard to make any money on. The whole house might buy one good meal.
We are staying at home until the rental is finished so it can go on the market. They got posts set today for the section of fence that blew down in a bad storm. They need to get the boards up and finish getting the rest of the new posts on the porch, and lay some sod where the renters had an above-ground pool. Fairly easy projects except for the heat wave we have had. Two days, hopefully, and it should be finished. It will be so good to get one big project finished. The old lake house should only take a day or two, a week at the most, then that will be gone. The new house is coming along, and we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, by mid-July, my husband should have some relief from all the stress. Maybe that will help him.

Relief from hot muggy weather is wonderful.
Glad the lake house is coming along so well.
Am praying that less stress will help your husband, yes.

So much getting done!! Great news. You will be moving before you know it.
1. It’s Friday and I have some overtime so I only had to work 1 hour from home today!
2. We survived the storms and high winds this week.
3. A house I love. So thankful it’s paid for.
4. Having enough.
5. Ken. My sweet husband. Love him so much!

Today he told me he was feeling pretty rough and decided around noon to lay down. I joined him a bit later and we both took a nice long nap. He was feeling much better he said when he woke up.
