Severe reaction to glutening-hospital admission- not me
Posted by David mc on 11/1/2019, 18:43:50
Iím fine but someone I know isnít after being glutened. They ended up in hospital after collapsing and have taken a month to really recover significantly. They were given a gluten based food at a restaurant yet their meal was chosen from a GF menu.
There are some descriptions online of others being similarly seriously affected and the consensus seems to attribute this to the vagus nerve and vasovagal syncope. Maybe fear of being glutened amd the onset of the reaction is enough to trigger the vagus nerve. I donít know but would like to know if others have had this experience or know of others similarly affected.
