After much rumour I see that Premier Inns are closing down their restaurants.
I can understand that it is a business and have to make a profit, the fact that they don't is largely their fault, the hotel side has always been good but the restaurants have been in steady decline for many years, poor food, pathetic GF options and shabby furniture and building structure.
The problem I think they might find is that people have no option but to go out and look for somewhere to eat, spending extra time in the morning for breakfast and going out in the evening, not good if you have had a tiring day. They are used by many trades people who are probably worn out after a days work and just want a meal, a couple of drinks in the bar and off to bed. I don't know if they will be providing any hotel guests only catering. We have been using Premier inn for many years and despite the less than excellent meals it does us for a couple of nights.
Thank goodness in some places their is a Lounges Cafe/Bar, brilliant GF menu, as I have said before not 5 star food but still better than many other places.
I was hoping that Mitchells And Butlers might take over the restaurant side, they operate Miller & Carter which are excellent.
