I am a fan of the Perla pens. My understanding, albeit limited, is that the company was sold to a larger company, which continues to market Ancora pens, but basically very high end items, without the in-house made superb nibs.
Also, that the person who used to run Ancora now runs the indie company, Santini Italia. I have one of their recent pens and it resembles the Perla, both in appearance (actually I just checked and the caps are basically interchangeable) and writing, though the nib I got was designed to flex, compared to the expressive softness of my Ancora.
