Your original post made me curious, so I checked out my modern Crescent Filler and it appears to match the one you pictured that was made in Italy. In particular, the nib has a round breather hole, not the crescent shaped one on the Taiwanese pen, and is marked 14K 585. When I purchased mine, it was paired with a matching rollerball pen. The tip on the rollerball extends/retracts by turning the "lock ring"
