Len, I thought about my comment on the positioning of the threads some more after I made my post. You are right about the smooth, streamlined appearance of the new one. Additionally, I realized threading at the section near the nib would have created a production problem for the new one. The original Bononia was a plunger filler with blind cap rather than cartridge/converter pen. That one lent itself to the sleek transition from blind cap up to threads near the nib. This would be more difficult to produce on a striped pen that must have a clean break higher up in order to access a converter. Not only would there be difficulties in lining up the beautiful stripes, but I imagine the dimensions of the pen would need to be different to in order to accommodate the different shape of the section.
