Interestingly, I was in Shanghai once and went to a stationery store--there was a whole street of mostly pen and stationery stores--thinking I would find some inteesting and unusual Chinese pens, but they mostly had expensive Western pens, such as Mont Blancs. I did, either in that store or another, find an elegant Duke pen with a soft 14k nib. And a couple of interesting notebooks.
In Beijing my host took me to a bookstore that as well as having a range of books in varied languages sold some high quality hard bound journals that had traditional Chinese paintings interspersed, ech one shown at varius stages, from the first sketches to the final paintings in vivid colors.
