Yes, there was a long line at the start of the show on Friday. So that, in itself is remarkable.
Plus, you don't realize that you can actually miss some of the familiar faces, a lot. Seeing those faces again (both from East and West coasts) after 2 years, felt surprisingly good. Even with masks on.
This is not a reportage of the show, because firstly, I am not a reporter-type, and secondly, I spent most of my time at my table, introducing people to the vintage side of the hobby. Seeing their smiles when they first saw what a truly good flexible nib can do, and feels to their hand, brings me joy.
So, between my table, making sure the vendors have all they needed, *and* preparing for my first "Sketching with Fountain Pens" seminar/class, there's barely enough time to think, let alone to take photos.
But, even if I did have time, for me, no photo can compete with this one:
At the end of the Sketching class, one of the attendees walked up to me and said "Here, you said that sketches can entertain others..." and she showed me her sketch of me, teaching the class, with mask on, and my glasses up.
I was floored :D
