Thank you so much for this complete and sad information. After reading your original post, having been so cautious and taking so much time. I must say, the fact that barrel and section remain bonded together. Another pen battle where the pen was inevitably going to win.
20 years ago, when I began restoring vintage FPs, the most helpful article I read (do not remember the Author) was all about “what not to do-s”. That included, never do anything that can’t be redone, as we may just be the next to restore the pen. I’m certain taking those tricks to heart, saved a lot of pens, but as you say, some still win.
The way you describe that slight curve appearing, is heartbreaking. I still remember the first time and pen it happened to me, a Beautiful Blue marbled Swan :-(.
