I really like these 1940s era Watermans a lot. The clean lines and the art deco clip appeal to me, plus I find them to be reliable workhorse pens with very nice nibs.
I am glad there was a happy ending to your pen repair story, Jon, even if it turned out different than originally planned. The blue celluloid is gorgeous!
I have a couple of the Starlet’s cousins.
This is my Dauntless. I’m guessing your original barrel with the stuck section was a similar golden brown celluloid. This is a lovely little pen, about 4-7/8 inches long capped, with a semi flex nib.
And here is a bigger cousin, the Stalwart. This pen was a generous gift from a friend some years back. Bigger than the Dauntless in both girth and length, it is very comfortable in hand. 5-1/4 inches long capped, it has a firm nib that is a very smooth writer. The nib is larger on this pen as well, although I don’t know the actual number, and it’s marked “firm.”
