c1929 Parker introduced the Ovals in a series of colors. The first model we now refer to was Type I which had a flat top and flat edges. George Parker wrote in a Parkergram that these Ovals sold so well they had a hard time keeping inventory.
However, there was a manufacturing problem, which I think could have been the straight wall top and edge shape coming out of the molds.
Next was the Type II from a different vendor which had the domed top and straight wall edge also. Still had a problem with manufacture so Parker finally went to Bauer Pottery to produce what we now see as Type III the domed top with the nice smooth bevel edge.
