Last year, ok, two years ago, I found myself tge new owner of eight old lever fillers and a couple of Vacumatic pens. The Vacumatic pens were the first to get new rubber. They work just fine now. Next was a Wearever Pennant. After getting a new sac and a nib tweak I am really impressed by a very cheap, no frills, basic pen, that honestly writes and behaves as well as a Sheaffer Balance. I had two more Pennants needing new rubber so they got some maintenance too. I also sent off a Federal and an Arnold for new sacs. I have developed a real fondness for these old geezers. With a little attention, they are great writers and more reliable than some modern pens. They still have stories to tell, so pull out one of your more "experienced" pens and give it the attention that you lavish on your shiny new ones. You will discover anew the joy of an old faithful pen. Then I realize I am mostly the same age as my Pennants and Arnold. What a blessing!!
