On the contrary of the British and Scandinavian Courts in Belgium we don't have Courtiers or mistress of the Robes etc....
Queen Fabiola had a very special Lady of Waiting for the day. Cousines and Friends did it and said that informations were asked about their private life.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde have a great Staff folowing them.
ack to me on the fact that Paola did not have a lady-in-waiting while she was Princess of Liège.
As I don't know how the Belgian Royal Court was organized back in the days of Baudouin and Fabiola I am just going to throw out another idea (which might be completely off the mark): instead of being a lady-in-waiting could they be some sort of other Royal courtiers? Most Royal Courts have a Chief Mistress / Mistress of the Robes position as well as ladies-in-waiting. In Sweden they have several high ranking court ladies for instance. Did the Belgian Court have such positions? Or perhaps the ladies were the wives of senior ministers in the Government, or even the wives of high ranking diplomats (Belgian Ambassador to Finland for instance in the case of the second photo). I am just throwing out ideas here in the hope that somebody would better knowledge to the Belgian court / society might be able to spin on on those thoughts.
