The visit was not expected to offer much occasion for glittering and sparkling jewels.
Nevertheless, during the State dinner hosted on 23rd of March by President Cyril Ramaphosa, Queen Mathilde managed to wear a few diamonds - no tiara, unfortunately, but anyway a few more diamonds than what the low-key morning-suit dress code required...
Besides a small diamond bracelet and one of her modern waterfall diamond earrings, Queen Mathilde also wore, pinned at the back of her chignon, a large diamond bow brooch:
Unfortunately, I could not find clearer pictures of the brooch. I guess it is probably the same brooch as the one she wore in London on 18th September, 2022, when she accompanied King Philip to Westminster Hall to attend Queen Elizabeth II's lying-in-state:
Does anyone know if any information about the origin of this impressive brooch has ever been disclosed?
