Re: Jewels of Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll
According to the Royal Watcher website, it was indeed given be Queen Victoria to Princess Louise on her wedding to the Marquess of Lorne. But, according to Ursula's website "Princess Louise bequeathed all her jewels to the Duke of Kent upon her death in 1939." So, I guess Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyle gave it to Princess Louise of Wales before she died. Maybe as a wedding present to her namesake? Does anyone know? (BTW, it's on display at Kensington Palace, not at the V&A as I said previously) Previous Message I think the Louise is went to *was* the duchess of Fife, not Argyll (i.e. Edward VII's daughter). Previous Message I thought that Princess Louise received the emerald tiara that eventually went to the Duchess of Fife and is currently on loan to the V&A Museum.
