Queen Silvia of Sweden also has a brooch like that, of gold and pearls, which she wore for the first time around 1980. And I believe is a gift from the imperial family of Japan, because I have seen the royal ladies in the imperial family wearing identical brooches.
Like most summers the Queen of Denmark also this year has spent part of the summer onboard the Royal yacht "Dannebrog" cruising the Danish waters and visiting places around her beloved Denmark. She has been enthusiastically received everywhere, and there is no doubt that Denmark reciprocates the Queen's love.
On one such visit, to the town of Fredericia, the Queen was spotted wearing a lovely Gold and Pearl brooch with very elegant lines. Normally it is the brooches of the British Royal Family that we have the most information on. But thanks to an article in BilledBladet I was interested to learn that some details is known about this Danish brooch.
It contains 13 Pearls and it was a gift to the then Princess Margrethe from the Imperial Family of Japan.
She also wore this brooch for a very significant day in her life with the engagement to Henri de Laborde de Monpezat in 1966.
It is a lovely piece and one that I wouldn't mind seeing worn more frequently by the Queen.
