Princess Astrid will already leave the turquoise set and the Vasa tiara to her brother and his son. If you combine that with Queen Maud's diamond tiara that her sister Ragnild returned to the main line and the pearl tiara her children gave to Ingrid Alexandra the main line will have quite a collection.
The emerald set
the Turquoise set
Queen Josephine's diamond tiara with two diamond necklaces and earrings and a brooch.
Queen Alexandra's regal circlet
Vasa diamond tiara
Diamond Daisy tiara
Pearl circle tiara
Queen Maud's Pearl tiara
Queen Sonja's modern gold tiara
Diamond fan necklace/tiara
Queen Maud's diamond tiara (i hope they'll add amethysts set in diamond as an alternative so it could make a complete amethyst set with the current amethyst jewels)
I think that prince Sverre Magnus' future wife will get one tiara (possibly the diamond daisy tiara) so the rest of the pieces would be for the queen, the crown princess and the hereditary princess.
HM is already in her mid 80's and unlikely to still be around when Ingrid Alexandra's firstborn will need a tiara if she is a girl or his wife will need a tiara when that is a boy.
I meant the main line of the Norwegian Royal Family, not the original owner of the piece. This is also why I think that I at least tried to suggest that instead of it simply being left to somebody other than the children of Princess Astrid there would have to be some kind of transaction. And my hope that it would remain in the main line of the Norwegian Royal Family is simply due to the fact that the set is now sort of linked to Norway (through inheritance through many generations in various countries). Hopefully I have managed to express myself clearly.
"Main line" - then it should go back to the Nassau family, where it originated.
It is indeed a very historic set. But as much as I would love to have it back in the main line I think it would be too much to ask of the Princess to leave this one too to the main line and by doing so denying her children a significant part of what should be their rightful inheritance. The Princess, being who she is, naturally has a lot of historic pieces in her collection and it would be unfair to expect her to leave them all to the main line.
Now, having said that, some arrangement with the Princess' children could perhaps instead be made. Because, let's face it, they will not be attending a lot of tiara events so they will not have a great use of such a piece more than keeping it in a safe place as a rare piece of their family history, or in the worst scenario; sell it off to the highest bidder for it never to be seen again. So, maybe the main line could offer to pay for the piece for instance.
Or if the Royal Family is not able to splash out on something like that it would be a wonderful gift from say the Norwegian people (a collection could be arranged) for a special anniversary (be it birthday or any other special event).
I read that the Gold Bandeau is going to be left to Astrid’s daughters, but according to Trond it’s a more historic piece than originally believed, and also more valuable. Given its provenance, I’m surprised it won’t return to the main line.
As it is, Astrid will be leaving the diamond bracelet bandeau, and the butterfly aigrette, to her daughters.
Queen Sonja is wearing Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara , Crown Princess Mette-Marit is in the Amethyst Tiara (with the earrings attached to the diamond element of her own earrings ) and Princess Astrid is wearing her Gold Bandeau Tiara at tonight’s State Banquet for the Tanzanian President at the Royal Palace of Oslo .
