If she wears a red, pink or purple dress it's diamonds or rubies.
If she wears a green dress it's the emeralds.
If she wears a light blue gown it's the aquamarines.
Is the dress a brighter or darker blue she opts for the sapphires.
The pearls go with white, gold or occasionally with one of the many red gowns she has.
I would have loved to see her in the green dress with the Mellerio Ruby set in Italy and the orange/yellow gown with the emeralds in Ireland.
Her pale blue lace dress worn for the wedding in Monaco works really well with the emeralds as well and the aquamarines go very well with the green or grey dresses she has.
Those are all old combinations used at the Russian court in the 19th century and a little less safe than Maxima's choices so far. Previous Message
Well for a banquet in Cyprus I think the bandeau in combination with those huge diamond earrings and substantial bracelet was pretty darn glamorous. She never disappoints. In almost all cases she chooses the dress first and then the jewels/tiara. Not all tiaras go well with a particular dress. Not a fan of this one but that's another matter. It's interesting that neither Beatrix (after her mid twenties) nor Maxima wear the Laurel wreath. It seems to suit all the other wearers... Previous Message
The Queen looked lovely, but yes you are right; there are so many other pieces she could have chosen even for a black-tie event like this. Previous Message
you were right she opted for the bandeau again. It's a shame because there are other pieces in the collection just as suitable for an event like this that she has never worn while the bandeau is becoming a bit boring on her. Previous Message
Don't think the will wear the laurel wreath anymore as she hasn't done so in the 23 years since her marriage. As for a tiara tonight i would guess the diamond bandeau
But there will be another tiara tonight in Helsinki as he danish King Queen are there on a State Visit. State Banquets there are usually white tie so we will for sure see a tiara. Previous Message
First of all, I hope there will be a tiara tonight in Cyprus. And if there is I - like you - would love to see the bandeau a la Grecque make an appearance. It would be very fitting. But as the Queen didn't even wear it in Greece I fear we won't see it tonight either. The Aquamarines is a good assuption, though it is definitely not my favourite. I would prefer to see her in the Pearl Button tiara or the Pearl Drop tiara for this occasion. Previous Message
Tonight the president of Cyprus will host a state banquet for the Dutch sovereigns on the first evening of the State Visit.
Any guesses to what tiara Maxima will wear?
Im hoping she'll finally wear the bandeau a la Grecque but I think it will be the aquamarines.
