On 10th March we had a very nice display of Royal jewels in the United Kingdom as members of the Royal Family attended the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey. Although my favourite achieved look was the Duchess of Gloucester’s unassuming elegance the one catching most of the attention was of course the Princess of Wales. She looked stunning in red with white (Pearl and Diamond) jewellery. Some even went as far as to suggest that the Princess had chosen those colours as a silent nod to Canada. In any case, what was really interesting to see is that one of her famous Collingwood Pearl Drop earrings seems to be missing a Diamond. I believe Hello Magazine was the first one to report on this. When I first saw the information I was not quite sure what to believe so I looked for a close-up photo and indeed; there is a Diamond missing in the earring worn in her left ear! It is on the lower part, near the Pearl which can be seen here:
In addition the Princess of Wales course wore the by now rather iconic Pearl necklace the late Queen Elizabeth had commissioned. I am glad that this necklace is getting more outings and it looks like we will see it again on the Princess of Wales for years to come.
The one member with less “wow” factor at the Service for me was the Queen. She wore one of her often worn Pearl necklaces, this time the one with a Diamond clasp.
The Princess Royal looked very nice I thought, wearing her Grima Gold and Diamond brooch said to have been a wedding present from her late mother.
As I said the Duchess of Gloucester was my favourite on this occasion (as she actually often is) with a string of stunning large Pearls, Pearl earrings and her mother-in-law’s Ruby and Diamond twin clips.
