We need that extra special from royals. Previous Message
The Rubies stayed in Denmark .
We saw only 2 Historical jewels the brooch (arrival) and the bracelet.
Twice modern earrings and at the end a Dior Brooch, she received or she paid. Sad for a State Visit. Previous Message
No Rubies to night too , but during the day, the Queen wore her Legion d' Honneur she received . Previous Message
Everything is just so boring. From clothes to jewels. Previous Message
As I feared, our worst expectations have come true: almost no jewels for the ladies at the State banquet at the Elysée Palace (except earrings), and day suits for the gentlemen. "I am not surprised, but I'm still disappointed anyway..."

The French have become terrible at organising these state banquets. The Dutch State Visit to France was absolutely horrible in that sense. Still. Queen Mary could pull out some grand jewels without having to wear a tiara during a black tie event. The rubies are an option in any shape or form. A few leaves from the ruby parure placed in her hair with the simple version of the necklace or the large diamond necklace. But also the Emerald necklace or the Sapphire demi-parure... choices, choices, choices.. Previous Message
Judging from past State visits in Paris, I fear we should not expect much glitter on the State dinner, and consequently also on the return dinner. The French protocol has dropped white-tie dinners since the late 1970s, and we should already consider ourselves happy if the dinner is black-tie and not with plain day dress (suits and ties)...
