For day 5 of Ascot races, Queen Camilla made us a big surprise, taking from the royal jewels vault a long-unseen jewel: a diamond brooch presented as a wedding gift to Princess Mary of Teck (later Queen Mary) in 1893 by Lady Alice de Rotschild.



As far as I know, this is the first time this brooch is worn since Queen Mary's lifetime (correct me if I am wrong). I even thought that this jewel, which is visible on pictures of the jewels presented to Queen Mary for her wedding (see picture below), was among the jewels that Queen Mary later dismantled to create other jewels. I am happy to see this was not the case.

The brooch description varies from the sources: it is either described as "a scent-bottle and lover's knot" or "a diamond watch brooch"...
