The tiara the King bought for his wife now has been given to princess Madeleine but it also a new addition.

Maybe the reason why is that they do not need to.
With a casket stuffed and rarely seen pieces showing up once in a while you are never disapointed with the Swedes.
I think the reason the Danes experiment that much is actually not having that much laying around. And in order to make things intreresting pieces are combined in different ways.
I mean King Carl Gustav even bought back historic pieces from his sister. The Danish royale family has not - I guess due to lack of funds.

The Swedish Royals have an absolutely amazing jewel collection which they wear often, beautifully, and somewhat interestingly.
However, unlike their Danish or Dutch friends, they have rarely adapted old jewels into new configurations.
There are beautiful Sapphire, Aquamarine, and Opal brooches that could either be hung from a diamond chains, or inserted centrally into multistrand pearl necklaces (think - Diana's pearl and sapphire choker).
Additionally, there are rarely worn emerald pieces that really should be made into a tiara.
I wonder if there is a lack of ingenuity, because there certainly isn't a lack of appreciation!
