It was confirmed here on these boards that the coronet has been broken up and is lost for the Belgian Royal Family.
Fabiola was a devout Spanish Catholic aristocrat rather than a Belgian royal and her decision to gift the Spanish Tiara to her Spanish family was a testament to that. She thought it belonged in Spain, whether broken up or otherwise.

It is possible the entire tiara was broken up to make new pieces to give to her favorite nieces and nephews. Juliana broke up her mother's sapphire tiara and necklace to create a number of earrings and brooches for her four daughters.
The frame was used a payment for the jeweler. Fabiola's heirs may have done a similar thing.
Had the tiara gone to the crown we would have seen it by now.

Btw we have not seen any of her aquamarine jewels so all these pieces may have been used to be divided among her family.

I need your help in a theory (perhaps already discussed).

We now know Queen Fabiola did not leave the Spanish Tiara to the current King and Queen. The speculation is that she gave each of her nieces or nephews in Spain a leaf from the tiara with an aquamarine.

Most likely at some point, it was discovered that the "ruby" and "emerald" settings were fake stones. I don't think she ever wore the Coronet version or those stone version of the tiara again.

If she gave aways the leaves, where is the coronet base? It is pretty substantial on it's own and wouldn't be "needed" by anyone except and active member of royalty or nobility.
