Juliana was grand! She pulled out all of the grand parures at her disposal in her day and made some interesting choices: wearing a tiara upside down, wearing a necklace in her hair.... During the day she could look very dowdy indeed. Her daughter Beatrix was dowdy and predictable in the jewellery department and had a rather poor choice in gala outfits. These 'creations were often overpowering rather than complementing her jewels. There were a few positive exceptions though. But during the day Beatrix presented herself as a corporate CEO wearing power suits with padded shoulders, a modern hat and an antique or gem set brooch.
