So her deciding (like her Swedish cousin Carl XVI Gustaf) to adapt the style and titles for her grandchildren through a younger line is something I think was wise and right. It may not have been handled as well as it could have been within the family but the actual decision was the right one I believe. The children of Joachim will have to make their own way in society and that will include commercial activities much easier for a count or countess de Montpezat than a prince or princess of Denmark.
I have to say im not a great fan of what Queen Ingrid did with her jewels. I would have preferred to see her add her jewels to the family foundation that already exists in Denmark with the stipulation that her three daughters would have first access before granddaughters and granddaughters-in-law. Had she done so the Danish collection would have been rivalling those of Sweden and Luxembourg.
Queen Margrethe II could have done so and I think she should have made a deal with her cousins about their jewels. That would have left a decent collection as well. Somehow they don't seem to care that much not unlike their Belgian relatives who find it completely normal to have a tiny collection and several pieces of inferior quality as the main pieces of Royal ladies.

I am always baffled by the fact that QMII did not think things through or she simply didn't care that much: like having to change the titles of some of her grown grandchildren and historic jewels being dispersed after her death... odd. I agree a foundation could still be an option if all members who own a tiara simply place them in trust of the foundation.

Unlike you I don't think this is a good development. I would have preferred if it remained with the sovereign or a family foundation. Countess Athena is going to need a tiara for at most her wedding day but not much else. So if the tiara was to return after Marie's demise another Danish royal lady could have been wearing it. Or if they went the Swedish, Luxembourg or Dutch route various Danish royal ladies would have the use of that tiara in future. Now we can expect it to be monetized either by Athena or her children at some point and yet another Tiara is lost for the Danish Royal Family.

Thank you Mrs Diamond for confirming this. so Athena will have later a tiara.

Hello all! But Princess Marie does indeed own the Dagmar tiara. It was gifted to her several years ago. It was made very clear at the exhibition of Margrethe’s jewels 2022. The tiara was displayed in the section of gifts to other family members, and the sign said said ”Property of HRH Princess Marie”.
