Of course the Belgian collection was never as large as that of the Dutch Royals but if in the 20th century under the reign of Leopold III and Boudewijn jewels had been brought together in a family foundation the collection could/would have been much larger than is now the case and the ladies of the Belgian Royal Family would have had much more impressive jewels than they have now.

Well you can hardly compare the two tiaras. The size of the diamonds in Queen Emma's tiara alone make it more striking and the design is more solid compared to the light and delicate frame of the Edwardian tiara worn by the DoB.

Im not sure there is much contact between Fabiola's relatives and the Belgian court.
As these jewels are those of a woman who was a Queen of Belgium for 54 years I think the Belgian royals ought to make sure they bring them back into the fold. Considering the fact they have no colored pieces at all any addition is more than welcome. However they did not even spent 32.000 euro on the pearl tiara of Stephanie of Baden so I very much doubt they will be buying this piece.
What struck me when the Duchess of Brabant and the Princess of Orange were walking side by side for the banquet in Luxembourg was the difference between the two tiaras the young women were wearing. Queen Emma's diamond tiara was shining and the diamonds massive compared to the lackluster Vestey tiara.

Perhaps it was already offered to the BRF but there was no interest in the piece, hence the auction sale?
The Sautoir is nice. The Aquamarine pendant and earrings don't seem to have the same colour. And the drop-earrings have a different design than the necklace. Its an odd set.

It would be good if Mathilde was to buy it with a starting price of 40.000 euro it should be in her reach.

An Art Deco Diamond Sautoir, a massive 38.6 carat Aquamarine Pendant and a pair of Aquamarine Earrings which belonged to the late Queen Fabiola of Belgium are going on Auction at Ansorena in Madrid next month . While not confirmed, it is thought that the Jewels are being sold by members of Queen Fabiola’s Spanish Family.
