Source: It had been telephotoed by P.A. Broadcast to Provinical Evening Press, June 2nd, 1953.
I delayed posting this picture here ever since I bought this picture from an antique store about 4 years ago. This has been in my collection ever since.
According to the blue note on the back side of the photo, it was taken during the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Her mother, the Queen Mother, was walking past the group of women and men, several of whom wore their own tiaras, along the procession inside Westminster Abbey in London on this date.
The blue note on the back of the photo is as follows: QUEEN MOTHER IN THE ABBEY: QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER pictured inside Westminster Abbey during her procession to her place for the Coronation of her daughter, Queen Elizabeth the Second. Standing in front row of royal and other representatives of Foreign states (seen just behind the Queen Mother) are from left to right:--M. YAKOB ALEXANDROVICH MALIK (Representing the USSR), CROWN PRINCE AKIHITO OF JAPAN, AND H.R.H. PRINCE ABDUL ILIAH representing the King of Iraq. June 2nd, 1953 PAR 36000-39
End of quote of the blue note.
I do not know the identities of the ladies with tiaras in the 2nd row, but wasn't this lady with a tiara at the far end of 1st row any relative (perhaps a sister of) of Prince Philip? Her face looked familiar----may be one of his sisters or maybe one of the sisters of Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent? Also the 3rd lady from the left in the 2nd row, was she later Prime Minister of India who was later assassinated? The 6th lady from the 2nd row, was she either a former royal princess from China or a princess from Imperial Japan?
If you know the identity of anyone in this photo, please type the name(s) here for me. Thank you! Maybe one of you do have another photo similar to this one. Have a nice day!! 😊
