Unfortunately an unflattering photo of Queen Sonja, but here's the best close up of this emerald set I could find - I'm wondering about its provenance too. The design of the matching earrings bears a resemblance to the earrings of Queen Silvia's modern ruby set, which is said to have been a gift from the Sultan of Brunei.
