Three of the four tiaras worn during the tour had just been inherited from Queen Mary a few months before the Queen's departure. This is purely speculation, but I suspect that had she been alive Queen Mary would have given her granddaughter jewels for the tour, just as she had done with the Delhi Durbar tiara years earlier.
